About

My name is Stephen and I’ve been fascinated by wildlife for much of my life. I’m a High School student, and live in and regularly bird Westchester and neighboring areas.

I began birding with a school trip to my local Audubon Center. I had always loved wildlife, but then, being just 8 years old, I had never thought to look beyond the zoo for the “wildlife” I had always wanted to see. When at the Audubon Center, one of the guides pointed out a Turkey Vulture to me. That’s it. Just an ordinary, good old run of the mill “TV”. But in that moment, something clicked. I didn’t need to go to far off places to see cool wildlife, here it was right in my backyard. Ever since then I’ve had a fascination, with raptors, and have since slowly branched out to all sorts of birds and wildlife.

Had I not gone on that trip, I may have never picked up birding and my love of conservation. My love of wildlife could have been just another childhood “phase”, a dream I never could pursue. But being introduced to New York wildlife at that critical moment in my life made my interest and love for wildlife a tangible one, and transformed it into a passion for conservation.
